monday {go off the grid}

  • read through and watch the introduction

  • create tag--a signature of sorts used in forms of public art, like graffiti

  • click on the maps tab at the top of the page

    • begin to explore both world maps

    • one map has google-produced images of street art. there are hundreds of locations to explore--take as much or as little time as you need to discover these pieces

    • the other map has pins on it that are hyperlinked to photojournalistic websites about the people who live in some of these cultures

    • while you're exploring, try to see if you can find connections between the culture, works of art, and people in every region you visit

    • questions to consider (remember, there is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions)

      • how are some artists able to create such elaborate street art on public property?

      • do you think they got permission to make their art or do you think they took the risk of making it without permission? why?

      • does a city influence its art or does art influence its city?
