final project

Now that you have spent time exploring the world and looking at how art is influenced by the culture around it, it is your turn to make art. Think of what the global art has taught you, and show in your final project how your own world inspires you.

Choose an object from your own culture that can be used as a form of container. Synthesize what you've learned about public art in these countries around the globe within your object, and explore how that shapes your identity as an artist.

  • This object could include, but is not limited to, a hollowed out book, any kind of box, an old suitcase, a jewelry box or chest, a vase or jar, and more.

  • Use your screen shots from your adventures, paste pictures of local art, use found objects. Arrange your findings within the object in collages, suspending items with string or hot glue, or assembling 3D objects--the way in which you create your project is ultimately up to you.

Your mission is to tell the story of how you are influenced by your culture through public art. Once you've completed your assembled project, install it in a location of your choice within the classroom or around your school building to transform it into public art. Observe if anyone moves it, changes it, or makes it their own.
